Yesterday, Jean-Pierre Leverrier, chef/owner of Palm Beach’s Chez Jean-Pierre, fiddled around with two portable burners and a toaster oven.
That’s hardly his usual rig in his restaurant kitchen, but it’ll be the core of his setup Saturday (Jan. 10), when he gives an afternoon cooking demo at the Multilingual Society’s downtown West Palm Beach headquarters.
The event is the society’s inaugural “Cooking with the Chefs,” a new program slated to feature a chef and demo each month at the society’s kitchen-less center at 210 S. Olive Ave.
Leverrier: “I’ve spent a little time trying to fugure out what I can do with the two burners and toaster oven I’ll be bringing” (along with utensils, a mixing bowl and other cooking paraphernalia). “I want to do something nice, but not too complicated so someone can go home and prepare it for themselves.”
After some experimentation Wednesday, Leverrier tentatively decided on a menu for his 2-4 p.m. demo on Saturday: shrimp and endive salad, salmon en papillote, and crepe Suzette.
